AI assistants

Powerbeat with ChatGPT and Claude

Ask your AI assistant about your home's Power and Energy, and let it change a device when you confirm.

AI assistantsPilot

What you can ask

Live answers from your own home

  • Right now

“What is my home using right now?” The assistant reads live solar, home, grid, and battery Power in kW.

  • Over time

“How much solar Energy did I produce last month?” Answers come from measured Energy in kWh, and missing data stays missing.

  • On request

“Start charging the car.” After you confirm, Powerbeat sends the command to your charger and reports what it accepted.

Connect

Add Powerbeat to your assistant

Powerbeat is a standard MCP server. Any assistant that connects to remote MCP servers with sign-in can use it.

  1. 01

    Add the connector

In ChatGPT, Claude, or another MCP client, add a connector named Powerbeat with the server address below. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http powerbeat followed by that address.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Powerbeat

The assistant opens Powerbeat. Sign in with your Powerbeat account. You need an account with at least one site.

  3. 03

    Choose what it may do

The consent screen names the assistant and lists each permission. Clear device control to allow reading only.

You stay in control

Read freely, act only when you say so

  • Your role still applies

The assistant sees the sites your account belongs to and acts with your role on each one. A viewer can read but not control.

  • Every change is confirmed

ChatGPT and Claude ask you before each device change. A change becomes a manual override that automation leaves alone until you clear it.

  • Accepted is not confirmed

The assistant reports that Powerbeat accepted a command. The device confirms it moments later, and Powerbeat shows both.

  • Disconnect any time

Open Account in Powerbeat and disconnect the assistant under Connected apps. Its next request fails immediately.

Your data

What the assistant receives

The assistant sends your request to Powerbeat with an access token for your account. Powerbeat answers with the Power, Energy, device, forecast, rule, and command data the request needs, and records each call on your site, including which assistant made it.

Powerbeat never shares your password, your provider keys, or other people's sites. What the assistant does with the answers is governed by the assistant provider's own terms.

FAQ

Questions about AI assistants

The short version of how assistants connect to Powerbeat.

Which assistants work with Powerbeat?

ChatGPT, Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile, Claude Code, and other assistants that connect to remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. Some assistants offer custom connectors only on paid plans.

Does connecting an assistant cost extra?

Powerbeat does not charge for it during the private pilot. The assistant runs on your own plan with its provider.

Can the assistant see other homes?

No. It sees only the sites your Powerbeat account belongs to. A site you are not a member of stays invisible.

Can I allow reading but not control?

Yes. Clear device control on the consent screen. To change the permissions later, disconnect the assistant and connect it again.
